OUR HISTORY

A HISTORIC BOUTIQUE HOTEL LOCATED IN THE HEART OF UPTOWN BUTTE

The Miner’s Bank Building, Built in 1913 as the Miner’s Savings and Trust Company was designed to serve Butte’s banking needs! It replaced the original bank building that was lost to the Thompson Block fire in 1912. Our building is constructed with 17-inch-thick concrete, making it a “fireproof” building to yesterdays standards.

The building originally housed three businesses: the bank on the first floor, a hotel for miners upstairs, and National Furs, a fur shop! All three operated until the 1960s, after which the space briefly served as Butte’s post office.

In 2014, the Ackerman family restored the building into the hotel you see today, along with 51 Below Speakeasy in tthe buildings basement — a hidden Prohibition-style cocktail bar that features the original wood floors and vintage furs! Stop in for music, trivia and more!

In 2022, new owners Thomas Klemp, Chuckie Richards and Beau Randall took over with a mission to celebrate Butte’s rich history and support the Uptown community.
